The three next poems, ‘‘My Papa's Waltz'' by Theodore Rothke, ‘‘The Back Couch of My personal Mother's Car'' by Julia Copus and ‘‘Hanging Fire'' by Audre Lorde, happen to be told coming from a children's point of view who, nostalgic, recalls and etendu for some thing. Phrases like ‘‘romped'', ‘‘battered'' and ‘‘scraped'' clearly demonstrate a poor connotation and therefore are purposely used by Rothke to suggest that the boy inside the piece of beautifully constructed wording is a victim of assault. The speaker, the youthful boy, metaphorically compares waltzing with his alcoholic father which will get beaten by him. A ‘‘waltz'' is a dance that is certainly performed by a couple who turns round and rounded on the party area, which is corresponding to two guys turning around each other when fighting in a ring.
